Hello, this is Dr. Charlie! I wanted to touch base with you since it has been three months since I took over the reins from Dr. Jennifer at Well Body Chiropractic. I have had the opportunity to meet many of you. I truly appreciate your warm welcome and all I can say is THANK YOU for embracing me and allowing me to continue Dr. Jennifer's exceptional care. From the beginning, it has been my goal to observe and listen to each of you to ensure a seamless transition and continuation of your care while offering additional value and insight from my 25 years of experience.
Most of you who have met me may have noticed that my chiropractic technique varies slightly from Dr. Jennifer's. I wanted this first blog to touch on the nuances and why I gravitated toward an instrument-based adjusting approach in 2017. I made the change for several reasons.
Over the years, the feedback I received from patients was their preference for a smoother and more gentle adjustment technique. I observed that patients tended to resist the firmer, more forceful adjustment approach, leading to a diminished impact of the treatment because, frankly, they tensed up, blunting the effect. A gentler approach was needed that achieved the same or better results without causing that tension and resistance.
The unique instrument approach I employ is gentler and allows for greater consistency, accuracy, and repeatability in adjustment delivery. Further, since this approach is gentle, the patient doesn't guard anticipating a heavy application of force, leading to less residual soreness and a better adjustment.
Taking a step further, the true intent of chiropractic is not just moving a bone from A to B, removing pain, or stretching and unlocking a joint. Chiropractic care goes beyond with the ultimate goal being the removal of neurological obstructions and the restoration of health. As such, the initial acclimatization to this approach takes a bit longer due to the subtlety, and because the stressors have likely been in the body for a long time. However, once we gain traction, this approach provides a deeper and longer-lasting change in the body with less potential for plateauing and regression.
On a personal note, I had sustained wrist injuries throughout my career which made practicing chiropractic more difficult. A solution was needed and the Neurostructural instrument approach was just that solution. It is truly one of the rare win-win situations.
