Discover the Amazing Benefits

of Chiropractic Care

Be a better version of YOU!

All aspects and functions of the human body are under the influence of the nervous system. Misalignments in the spine, called subluxations can interfere with the body’s ability to function and heal optimally. They can also keep the body from adapting to an ever changing and ever stressful environment. Chiropractic is a natural form of health care that uses spinal adjustments to correct these misalignments and restore proper function to the nervous system, helping your body to heal naturally. Chiropractic doesn’t use drugs or surgery. Rather, a chiropractic spinal adjustment-the application of a precise force to a specific part of the spinal segment-corrects the misalignment, permitting normal nerve transmission and assisting your body to recuperate and express optimal health on its own.

There is no age or spine that cannot be safely adjusted. As a matter of fact, on the best ways to ensure a healthy child is to have regular chiropractic adjustments. Likewise, one of the best things for an aging spine is gentle, non-force or low force chiropractic to help maintain joint mobility, decrease inflammation and create an environment of healing for the body.

The Research Is In…

A huge problem that we see in Western cultures is our unnatural habit of sitting down all day. This is not only partly responsible for the obesity rates continuing to rise, but it is detrimental to our spines — not to mention our posture. From the time humans are small children, they are glued to hand-held games, cell phones, iPads and laptops! This degrades structure ( the spine) and structure degrades function (the neurophysiological system ). There is no one better than chiropractors to prevent and correct neuro-muscular and neuro-physiological disease. All that with the highest record of safety available in healthcare today.

In the toggles below are just a small sampling of research on what chiropractic can do for you and your family. Please take some time to read and schedule an exam or consultation. Now is the time to take steps towards more optimal health.

Just click on a topic for the full information. Thanks to Dr. Josh Axe and his exhaustive research on all things health and wellness, including the information for this section.

Exciting research is currently being conducted via upright MRI showing how upper cervical adjustments affect various brain-based conditions. What we have seen so far is quite remarkable.

Not only are MRI scans revealing that cerebral spinal fluid and blood flow are markedly increased after a chiropractic adjustment, researchers are observing that cerebellar invagination (when the cerebellum drops down below the skull line) is being reversed and brain plaquing (common in multiple sclerosis patients) is disappearing!

Montel Williams, the famous TV host, was interviewed about his experience as a MS patient under chiropractic care. He discussed how chiropractic dramatically changed his life living with MS.

The European Spine Journal published the findings from a clinical trial last year proving how chiropractic adjustments resulted in a 72 percent success rate in treating sciatica and related symptoms compared to the 20 percent success from physical therapy and 50 percent from corticosteroid injections.

Compared to any other treatments, few interventions have the short and long-term success with  back pain and sciatica relief  like chiropractic adjustments can.

This can be especially true with pregnant Moms. Chiropractors are very skilled and comfortable managing back pain and sciatic during and after pregnancy.

In a study published in the British Medical Journal 2003, 183 patients with neck pain were randomly allocated to manual therapy (spinal mobilization), physiotherapy (mainly exercise) or general practitioner care (counseling, education and drugs) in a 52-week study.

The clinical outcome measures showed that chiropractic adjustments resulted in faster recovery than physiotherapy and general practitioner care. Moreover, total costs of the chiropractic-treated patients were about one-third of the costs of physiotherapy or general practitioner care.

Another study published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics found patients with chronic low-back pain treated by chiropractors showed greater improvement and satisfaction at one month than patients treated by family physicians. Satisfaction scores were higher for chiropractic patients in this study as well as many other studies such as those interviewing senior citizens and their satisfaction rate with different types of practitioners. Patients LOVE their chiropractors.

A higher proportion of chiropractic patients (56 percent vs. 13 percent) reported that their low-back pain was better or much better, whereas nearly one-third of medical patients reported their low-back pain was worse or much worse.

In a study funded by NIH’s National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine to test the effectiveness of different approaches for treating neck pain, 272 participants were divided into three groups that received either spinal manipulative therapy from a doctor of chiropractic (DC), pain medication (over-the-counter pain relievers, narcotics and muscle relaxants) or exercise recommendations.

After 12 weeks, about 57 percent of those who met with DCs and 48 percent who exercised reported at least a 75 percent reduction in pain, compared to 33 percent of the people in the medication group. After one year, approximately 53 percent of the drug-free groups continued to report at least a 75 percent reduction in pain, compared to just 38 percent pain reduction among those who took medication. Those figures don’t even take into account the dangers and side-effects that people who choose medication risk.

Second only to back pain, headaches are one of the most common conditions regularly managed by chiropractors. Right now there are over 230 peer-reviewed articles referenced chiropractic’s ability to help cure, prevent and ease the burden of headaches and migraines in people throughout the world! That’s an astounding statistic that more people need to know.

A group trial found that 22 percent of people who had chiropractic treatment saw the number of attacks drop by 90 percent. In that same study, 49 percent said they had a significant reduction in pain intensity.

I can’t imaging why anyone would waste money on visits to medical doctors and pharmacies when natural, drug-free chiropractic has such an incredible history of success. Chiropractor are also full trained to examine and diagnose conditions that are not spine related and refer to the appropriate practitioner. Your chiropractor has an extensive and diverse background in physical diagnosis. You don’t need “to see if a chiropractor can help.”. He or she will know if they can help or not.

Any chiropractor that has practiced for even a short amount of time understands how important chiropractic care is to healthy and sick children alike. That is never more true than when talking about colic and ear infections. The incredible success of chiropractic care in treating these cases has been extensively studied. If pediatricians would get on board an begin referring to chiropractors, imagine the unnecessary use of antibiotics and surgeries that could be prevented!

A 2012 study published in Journal of Manipulative Physiological Therapeutics found that chiropractic adjustments greatly reduced colic symptoms.

Although very few randomized control trials have been conducted describing the clinical effects of chiropractic care on children, literally scores of case studies have been documented that describe how children suffering from otitis media (ear infections), acid reflux and colic have experienced complete to near complete resolution after just a few visits.

The explanations as to how this happens vary somewhat, but the resounding theme is that nerves controlling the gut and brain are intricately connected to each other and are quite sensitive to neurological insult caused by vertebral subluxations. Think of how a baby comes into this world. It’s pretty easy to see how they get their first subluxation.

Yes, you read correctly. Chiropractic can even help blood pressure and it has been widely studied and understood. If only the public knew…

In 2007, George Bakris, the world expert on hypertension, published a study with a team of researchers in the Human Journal of Hypertension proving that one upper cervical chiropractic adjustment had the same effect as two blood pressure-lowering drugs. Even more fascinating, the effects of just one adjustment lasted more than six months!

Compared to the placebo-treated patients, those who got the real procedure saw an average 14 mm Hg greater drop in systolic blood pressure (the top number in a blood pressure count) and an average 8 mm Hg greater drop in diastolic blood pressure (the bottom blood pressure number).

Other studies have shown similar findings with hypotensive patients, and their low blood pressure was raised to normal levels after chiropractic care. The concept of the adjustment normalizing nerve flow and this body function has been preached by chiropractors for decades. The research on blood pressure is especially exciting because it highlights what we have been screaming to the world-the body’s ability to create a homeostatic balanced environment once vertebral subluxations are removed.

It may not have reached mainstream or the insides of Medical offices yet, however, Chiropractic has long been heralded by natural health care providers as a natural method to prevent back surgery. That is no small accomplishment since about 10% of all spinal fusions paid for by Medicare in 2011 were not necessary, either because there was no medical basis for them or because doctors did not follow standards of care by exploring non-surgical treatments, according to a USA TODAY analysis of data from Medicare program audits. That translates to $157 million in improper payments, just for spinal surgeries in a single year.

Research suggests that of the 500,000-plus disk surgeries that are performed annually (a significant increase of late), as many as 90 percent are unnecessary and ineffective. Richard Deyo, MD, a professor at Oregon Health and Science University, notes, “It seems implausible that the number of patients with the most complex spinal pathology [has] increased 15-fold in just six years” and mentions one strong motivation includes “financial incentives involving both surgeons and hospitals.”

A study conducted by Deyo and Cherkin in 1994 compared international rates of back surgeries and discovered that the rate of American surgery is unusually excessive and directly attributed to the supply of spine surgeons: “The rate of back surgery in the United States was at least 40 percent higher than any other country and was more than five times those in England and Scotland. Back surgery rates increased almost linearly with the per-capita supply of orthopedic and neurosurgeons.”

In fact, the Journal of the American Medical Association just recently published its low back pain guidelines and suggested that people suffering from back pain first try chiropractic before resorting to surgery.

‘Nuff said there eh?

Chiropractic adjustments for scoliosis coupled with muscular rehabilitation techniques may help prevent the progression of scoliosis.  Chiropractic has long had an effective system to treat people with scoliosis.

The typical medical model of “wait and see” should’ve been taken out of the standard protocol decades ago. Waiting and seeing only allows a curve to progress and reach it’s full potential! It truly makes me crazy when a parent brings a teenager in that was diagnosed years ago and now has pain, restriction and in some cases physical deformity. Early intervention by a chiropractor that includes spinal adjustments, corrective rehabilitative and strengthening exercises as well as neural education and balance training can not only prevent the pain and discomfort, but can often stop and reverse certain types of curves! If you are a parent and your child has been diagnosed with scoliosis, please make an appointment today!

There is a reason why athletes both today and in the past, like Michael Phelps, Jerry Rice and Joe Montana, are under regular chiropractic care. In fact, over 50 percent of NFL teams have a chiropractor on staff.

Because it is so effective at pain-based and pathological conditions, one of the most overlooked aspects of chiropractic care is that it enhances personal and athletic performance. Studies have sown that it:

Reduces inflammatory cytokines
Boosts your immune system
Enhances pulmonary function
Decreases mental and oxidative stress
Relieves muscle tension
And can naturally increase your energy level
Studies have even proved, objectively and subjectively, that chiropractic patients experience “overall increased bodily function,” which includes bowEl regularity and mental clarity.

Basically, because it helps place your body in the position where it can heal itself, chiropractic adjustments can free your immune system up to focus on keeping you healthy, which enhances your ability to think, move and perform.

You don’t have to be a professional athlete to enjoy these same benefits. People like you and I who just want to be healthier and do better at the gym and in life will get the same benefits.
